I agree, Beefliverpie, a bench should be counted among the very first tools a person buys or builds. It’s hard to do much w/out a bench. Scandinavian benches are good but expensive &/or hard to build. English style benches are not as adaptable as I want a bench to be. A bench built like a big box made of OSB & ply w/ a bunch of holes for holdfasts is easy & cheap to build. W/ a few holdfasts you can clamp work to the top & any of the sides. Clamp a board to an end for a benchstop.
